We are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Designer to work in our Big Rapids, Michigan plant. In this role, you would develop designs for new products and revises designs for existing products, meeting established quality and performance standards, by applying basic engineering principles under minimal supervision. Documents, or oversees documentation, of new or revised design. Develop designs of major scope and complexity from ideas or requirements as presented by engineer, needs statement, or project team. Develops engineering layouts for major projects or complex products, using appropriate Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools (personal computer [PC] or workstation), via keyboard/mouse. Establish initial multi-dimensional model base features, using tool. Analyzes designs for proper form, fit, and function, including basic manufacturability, assembly, and disassembly, using CAD tools or calculator. Makes initial selection of materials, common or generic parts, and engineering standards for designs using catalogs, reference books, or other product drawings. Assemble prototypes, using power and hand tools, moving parts weighing up to 100 pounds. Interface with production areas for information gathering and pilot product development activities. Contacts suppliers or manufacturing groups, via telephone or in person, to obtain information related to fabrication of prototypes, application of materials and processes, and selection of purchased parts.We value learning through education and experience. The ideal candidate will possess: Associates degree in Engineering design field or equivalent plus four years product design experience. CAD or PC design experience required.OR Four-year technical degree. CAD or PC design experience required.OR Equivalent design and drafting experience and training (minimum eight years).
